Taking the Pis.
Inspired by Brussels’ centuries-old tradition of dressing Manneken Pis, this digital art series takes Belgium’s most famous statue out of his fountain and sends him to the people who usually come to see him. Instead of endlessly posing for tourists in Brussels, he becomes the tourist himself.
For me, Taking the Pis is really about mixing fashion, digital collage, and cultural exchange in a way that feels playful, a little messy, and not overly polished. Manneken Pis already has this whole history of being dressed up, restyled, and reimagined. I love the idea of taking that tradition and flipping it a bit. Instead of just dressing him for Belgium, I dress him as the people who actually come to see him, then send him back to their worlds. Using Photoshop in a rougher, collage-style way it’s supposed to feel fun, and a little sarcastic. It’s really just Belgium’s icon leaving Brussels for once and seeing what everyone else has been so excited about.
